Title: Grass

Conceived
and created for Sculpture in Context 2006 in the Botanic Gardens,
is
concerned with the sinuousness and sensual shape of grasses and tall leaves. It
was built in sections
around
a central metal core, in some ways mimicking the way plants and osmosis work to
get nutrients and
water
to all parts of the plant.
It consists
of three tall leaf shapes the tallest of which is 200 cm tall.

The piece was sold and sited
outside Mill Cove Gallery in
Castletownbere,
It was assembled in a
different way to suit its new surroundings.

Budding 2007

In

A stylized depiction of the beauty of buds just about
to open.
Five pieces in a row, with a progressively more open
white flower. White, glazed
ceramic shapes showing stylized buds, placed
on top
of five contrasting dark, rough textured ceramic cubes.
Each
piece has a metal construction ser into the ground, that
anchors the plinth and goes up through the pieces to ensure they are
stable
and safe.

Sculpture in Context 2007 in the Botanic Gardens,
Also exhibited at Blooms in
Crafts Council of
Awarded price of Best Craft
in the Garden at Bloom 2008 by the Crafts Council of Ireland and purchased by
the
Crafts Council of Ireland.
